Danny Garcia (University of Wisconsin –Madison)- CIEE Alcalá Spring 2012: Exercise... outside?

Exercise… outside?

While walking around Alcalá de Henares, some of you may have noticed the outdoor workout parks.  These parks are situated in various parts of the city, and rather than having trees and walkways, these parks have bench press machines and curl up bars.  While an outdoor gym seemed strange to me at first, after doing a little research I discovered that not only are they common in Spain, they are also normal in countries like the UK, Australia, and even warmer parts of the United States.

What surprised me even more is that after I tried using one, I found that it wasn’t to bad.  It offered a decent workout in a great environment.  And best of all, it was completely free!  So if you’re looking for a place to get in a quick workout in this coming spring, don’t be afraid to give workout parks a shot!

Ejercicio…
