Study Abroad in
The “Green Spain” surprised the students, since many of them didn’t even know it existed, where you can eat and drink extremely well: "fabada" (bean soup), rice pudding, "carbayones" (a kind of cake) and cider are the most well known.
But the most amazing experience was canoeing/kayaking on the river Sella even with a cloudy day.
We got to enjoy the festivities in Cangas de Onís with two free concerts right outside on Friday and Saturday night.
We really enjoyed a lot!!!!!!!!
Last Friday June 7 some Summer 2013 (session 1) CIEE students and I went to La Granja and Segovia with IBF-UAH staff. The Benjamin Franklin Institute began the month of June with this trip. All the students who attended are taking the course "Spanish Culture and Civilization" with professors Marta González and Beatriz Jimenez.
Classes began on June 3rd at the Instituto Benjamin Franklin and the students were able to visit and “try out” as many classes as they wanted, although several classes were cancelled because fewer than 5 students were enrolled.
And in the afternoon on June 3 rd and 4 th we had a tour/walk through the university buildings and other interesting places in the center of Alcalá.
It's amazing to think that this picture was taken four months ago. How time flies!
Well, I want to thank you for all you've done above and beyond for me in these past few months. You were always available for me like a Spanish mother when I had a problem and you acted as a lioness who challenged me so that I would learn a lot. And I've definitely learned a lot! You are an amazing director and I cannot imagine there is another one as perfect as you. One of the most influential reasons why I chose the program in Alcalá was you. I still remember the first email I sent to firstname.lastname@example.org and you answered all my questions very thoroughly, and then you sent me more emails with links just to help me even more. And I thought, wow, she is certainly not just going to be a director but a great friend. I was not mistaken. It is amazing to think of how many more people you have impacted in a similar way! I hope everything goes well with the new group and I wish you much happiness in the years to come. It was a shame I could not say goodbye before you started your summer orientation 2013 but I will undoubtedly be coming back to Spain and the beautiful Alcalá. See you soon!
A very big kiss and hug,
The king Sean Delany
¡Sin duda he aprendido mucho! No me equivoqué.
We went together to buy cell phones at El Corte Inglés, but we could not buy all of them, because there were not enough pre-paid terminals.
As always, the most anticipated moment, but also the one that makes them the most nervous, was meeting their families.
On Sunday, June 2, we all went to Madrid in order to learn how to use the suburban train and the subway, in addition to taking a long walking tour of some of the most important attractions in Spain’s capital.
